Do you find yourself constantly questioning the way things are? Are you curious about the experiences of others and eager to understand the world around you? Do you want a career where you can work toward solving society’s deepest problems and make a real difference?

At Revealing Reality, many of your days will be filled with engaging fieldwork. You’ll travel across the UK, conducting interviews in diverse locations – people’s homes, workplaces, schools, and other community settings – to understand their lives and perspectives. We’ll teach you how to capture the essence of these experiences through discussion, observation, photography and film, adding depth and richness to our research. Back at the office, you’ll be immersed in the analysis, distilling key insights from interviews and weaving them into compelling narratives. You’ll also play a crucial role in facilitating workshops with clients and respondents, fostering collaboration and driving impactful solutions. Ultimately, your work will culminate in the production of reports and visual outputs that will shape decisions and create lasting change.

As a Junior Researcher at Revealing Reality, you’ll be part of a team that is passionate about not only uncovering insights but also translating them into real-world change. We’re not just offering a job, but a career. Many of our leadership team started as Junior Researchers, and we’re committed to nurturing talent and promoting from within. We value potential and passion, and we’re looking for someone who is eager to hit the ground running and make a mark in the field of social research. This role will challenge you, stretch your abilities, and give you the opportunity to develop skills you never knew you had.

ROLE HIGHLIGHTS:

Make a difference: Our research informs decisions that make a real impact on people’s lives. You’ll work on projects that tackle important social issues, from protecting children online to improving the experiences of asylum seekers.

Rapid responsibility: We believe in empowering our team. You’ll be given real responsibility from day one and the opportunity to quickly grow your skills and knowledge.

Diverse experience: No two days are the same at Revealing Reality. You’ll be exposed to a wide range of research topics, methodologies, and clients. Our work takes us all over the UK, giving you the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and experience different communities first hand.

Collaborative environment: We have a playful and collaborative team environment. You’ll be surrounded by colleagues who are passionate about their work, enjoy sharing ideas and learning from each other. The Revealing Reality office is a ‘safe space’ for ideas and discussion. We strongly believe that laughter is a necessity, not a luxury, in work.

Accelerated growth potential: In addition to gaining experience conducting research, you’ll also be expected to develop your skills in storytelling, strategy, and leadership – all of which are essential for driving meaningful change. You’ll learn from and be mentored by some of the most experienced researchers in the business, who will help you hone these abilities and translate your research findings into impactful recommendations.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR:

Inquisitive mind: A passion for learning and a thirst for knowledge that goes beyond what you already know. We seek individuals who are as excited about discovering what they don’t know as they are about applying what they do. We are looking for individuals with genuine curiosity. If you already ‘know the answers’ a career in policy or advocacy might be a better fit for you.

Well-rounded perspective: A genuine curiosity about people from all walks of life and a willingness to listen to and learn from diverse experiences. Your ability to connect with people and understand their perspectives, regardless of their background, will be a valuable asset in this role.

Openness to new experiences: A willingness to step outside your comfort zone and embrace the challenges and rewards of working in different environments and communities across the UK. You’ll have the opportunity to see how people live and gain a deeper understanding of the social issues we’re working to address. Prepare to have your assumptions fundamentally challenged by these experiences.

Team player: A collaborative instinct and the ability to thrive in a team environment. You’ll be able to effectively communicate your ideas, listen attentively to others, and value the contributions of your colleagues. You’ll also be open to feedback and willing to learn from others, regardless of their experience level.

Strong work ethic: The determination and drive to deliver high-quality work and make a real impact, even when faced with obstacles and self-doubt.

Eagerness to learn and adapt: A proactive approach to personal and professional development, seeking out opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills, regardless of your previous academic achievements or work experience.

Life experience: We value all types of experience, especially those that demonstrate resilience, resourcefulness, and the ability to connect with people from different backgrounds. Include challenges you’ve overcome in previous jobs, the different types of people you’ve interacted with, and the lessons you’ve learned from working in non-academic or professional settings in your CV. Have you worked in retail, customer service, as a carer or a labourer? Have you volunteered in your community? These experiences can be just as valuable as academic qualifications for this role.

Ambitious outlook: A desire to quickly progress your career and make a significant contribution to the field of social research. We’re looking for individuals who are not only passionate about research but also excited about the potential to learn how to influence and inspire others.

Your future at Revealing Reality:

At Revealing Reality, we are looking to find and develop future leaders. We encourage you to explore your interests, pursue new challenges, and create your own unique journey within the company. Whether you’re a recent graduate or have some experience, if you demonstrate a positive attitude we’ll invest in your development and help you reach your full potential.
